We whose names are hereunto Subscribed do hereby certify that we very well know the within named James Pile and Isabel his wife and do believe them to be a very honest Industrious People and that we very well know the House in which they lived when the within mentioned Flood happened and were Eye Witnesses to its being near swept away by the said Flood and the Destruction and Damage it occasioned to them and that we have also examined the Account and Estimate within written and believe the same to be a true and Moderate Account and Estimate of the Damages they sustain'd By the same And that we have reason to believe that the said James Pile and Wife by such loss will be reduced to no small difficulty and Distress and that it would be a real charity done to give him relief on Account thereof As Witness our hands this third day of January 1772 Henry White Adam Porteus I The Reverend George Busby Minister of the Parish of Hexham within mentioned do hereby certify that I believe the within named James Pile and Wife and also the several Persons whose names are Subscribed to the above written Certificate to be very honest People, And that the within Written Account and Estimate is a true and Moderate one As Witness my Hand this third day of January 1772 Geo Busby
