We whose names are hereunto Subscribed do hereby Certify that we very well know the within named John Lee and believe him to be a very honest Industrious Man and that we very well know the Farm within mentioned and have seen and know the Corn which grew upon the Lands thereto respectively belonging and were eye Witnesses to its being swept away by the late greatest Flood that ever was known in the River South Tyne and the Destruction and damage it occasioned to the said Corn and that we have also examined the Account and estimate within written and believe the same to be a true and moderate account and estimate of the damages the said John Lee sustained by the same and that we have reason to believe that the said John Lee by such loss will be reduced to no sm?ll difficulty and distress to Support his Credit and that it would be a real Charity done to give him relief on account thereof As Witness our hands this Thirtieth day of December 1771, Thos. Tinling William Robson John Leathert The Reverend John Farrer, Curate of Haltwhistle Parish within mentioned do hereby Certify that I very well know the within named John Lee and also the Several persons whose names are Subscribed to the above written Certificate and believe him and them to be very honest Men that I had not an opportunity of Seeing the Corn mentioned in the within written Account taken away and damaged by the said Flood but very well know that the said John Lee is the Farmer of the Farm within mentioned and as such Owner of the said Corn and Believe that the within written Account and estimate is a true and moderate one As Witness my hand this Thirtieth day of December 1771 John Farrer
