XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX We Paul Brown of the Riding and John Byerley of Broomhaugh at the request of Ralph Smith and Wm Bainbridge Esqr did upon the 2d Day of January 1772 take an Estemation of the Damages sustained by Mathew Coulson of Broomhaugh aforesaid by the late Inundation which according to the best of our Judgment is as follows … Nigh One Acre of Turnips _ _ _ £1 :--:-- One Load or more of Potatoes - : 5:-- Total £ 1 : 5:-- NB: Tho' the above Damages may appear small yet the necessitous Circumstances of the above Sufferer speak loud in recommendation of Him to the Gentlemen whom thiss may concern, a particular Account whereof we refer to Wm Bainbridge Esqr who is fully informed of the same. . .
