We whose names are hereunto Subscribed do hereby Certify that we very well know the within named William Robley and believe him to be a very honest Industrious Man and that we very well know the Farms within Mentioned and seen the Corn which Grew upon the Lands thereto respectivly belonging and were Eye Witnesses to its being Swept away by the late greatest Flood that ever was known in the River North Tyne and the Distruction and Damage occasioned to the said Corn and other particulars and that we have also Examined the Account and Estimate within written and believe the same to be a true and Moderate account and Estimate of the Damage the said William Robley Sustained And that we have reason to believe the said William Robley by such loss will be reduced to no small Difficulty and Distress to Support his Credit and that it woud be a real Charity done to Give him on account thereof As Witness our hands this 30 Day of December 1771 William Charlton William Dods Thomas Kirton Matthew Charlton mark Thomas (T L)Leermeth his I The Revd Thomas Wetheral Minister of Falstone Chapelry within Mentioned Do hereby certify that I very well know the within Named William Robley and also the several persons whose Names are Subscribed to the above written Certifycate and believe him and them to be very honest Men, that I had not an Opportunity of Seeing the Corn and Particulars Mentioned as in the within written Account taken away and Damaged by the said
