Take one pecke* and halfe of turnipps | ||||
cleane washed, unpared | ||||
Tk 2 oz of annisseed | ||||

Tk one handfull of unsett* hysope*, and as much | ||||
of coltsfoote* | ||||
Putt all theise into an earthen pott and | ||||
cover with a double paper that the steam | ||||
goe not forth and bake them in an oven | ||||
When they be baked, squease* the same | ||||
betweene a couple of trenchers*, and the | ||||
liquor thereof putt into a pipkin covered, | ||||
and put therunto on pound of refined | ||||
suger, and sett the pipkin over som embers, | ||||
and lett the same simper* a way one | ||||

drincke therof 5. or 6. spoonefulls in the | ||||
morninge, and at three of the clocke in | ||||
