In the name of God Amen : I John Johnston of Hexham in ye County of
Northumbland Tanner, being sick & weak in body but of sound & pfect memory (praised be
God for it) Do make this my last Will & testamt in manner & form following : First
I comitt my Soul into ye hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping assuredly through
the Meritts death & passion of Jesus Christ my Redeemer to Obteine Eternall life & my
body to ye Earth to be burryd in decent & christian manner by my Exs hereafter
named, & for such Wordly* Estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow upon me
I Dispose thereof as followeth : Item I give legate & bequeath Unto my Eldest
Daughter Jane Johnston ye Sume of thirty pounds of lawfull English money
to be payd by my Exs hereafter named within Six months next after my
decease : Item I give Legate & bequeath Unto my Younger daughters Elizabeth
Johnston & Elenor Johnston & to each of them ye Sume of thirty pounds
of lawfull English money to be likewise payd by my Exs hereafter named
wthin Six months next after my decease : Which said three Legacies amount
to in all ye Sume of Ninety pounds, being for their filiall porcons
And my Will further is, that if any One of my said Daughters shall
happen to dye before they attaine ye Age of 21:Yeares or be Marryed
that then such Legacie so hereby by me left to ye pty so dyeing shall
accrew & go to my Other two daughters Surviveing : Butt if two of my sd
Daughters shall so dye as aforesaid, then my Will is that ye Moyety* or
half of their Legacies so left by me as aforesaid shall go to my daughter
so Surviveing, & ye Other Moyety* or halfe shall goe to my Exs hereafter
named : Item I give & bequeath unto my loving wife Isabell Johnston
ye Sume of twenty pounds of lawfull English money to be payd by my
Exs hereafter named as aforesd : And also I give all my Utensills
or House hold Goods Unto my said Wife for her life & after her decease
I give ye said Goods Unto my sd Daughters Ann, Elizabeth & Ellenor, or to
such of them as shall be then liveing : And I do hereby nominate
& appoint my two Sons Wm Johnston & Mathew Johnston joint Exs
& I do noiate & appoint my loving father Mathew Johnston Tanner
& my two friends Edwd Johnston Shoemaker & Thomas Fenwick Tanner
Supvisors of this my Will, & I do hereby revoke & annull all
former & other wills & Testamts by me made either by word or writeing
In Witnesse Whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & Seale
this Eleaveth day of September Ao Regni Willmi tertij num*

in ye parish of Allandale in ye County of Northumbland being sick in body but of
good & pfect remembrance (thanks be to God for ye same) I do think fitt to make
this my last Will & testamt in manner & form following : First I give my Soul
into ye hands of Almighty God & my body to be buryed in ye Burrying place
beside ye Meeting place att ye Burnfoot* in East Allandaile : Imps First
I give Unto my poor friends in ye truth who go under ye name of
Quakers in ye parish of Allandaile Five pounds : Item I give Unto
William Wilson of ye Frosshall Sheld* five pounds : Item I give
Unto Elizabeth Rowell fower pounds : Item I give to Ann
